Hello! I’m Bartek, ( BARTOSZ is also a longer version of my name, and some call me so )
I was five years old boy living in Nowa Huta near Krakow when I was creeping to capture rooks walking on the snow with 6×6 camera. This was primitive stuff which was able to focus from the 5 meters distance only but I felt like the hunter doing this. I don’t know whether the photos were successful because….. I decided to check it immediately after shooting by opening the camera… Yes. But maybe… “A hard beginning maketh a good ending”. I still hope it is… Some time later, my father took me to a real darkroom where I saw few adults people in dim, red light. They looked like they were doing spells and I saw an Image appear on a piece of paper which was blank before. It was magic. I thought that I wanted to do it too.
In 1991 I graduated Secondary School of Visual Arts – Photography Divison in Gdynia. In 1995 I graduated from the Polish National Film School in Lodz – Photography Dept.
